Welcome to the website of Thurso Free Church. We're glad that you have chosen to visit us and we hope that you enjoy browsing around our site.
This site has not been produced professionally, so it should have some of the feel of our Church family. If you have any suggestions to improve our site, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Our Church is situated in a small coastal town in Caithness at 59 degrees north. The area is wild and isolated, with many small communities dotted around a largely rural and agricultural landscape. Caithness, once home to the flagstone and fishing industries is now mainly occupied with farming, the aftermath of Dounreay and some light industry. Out towards Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the British mainland, you will see Highland cattle happily grazing.
Our building is therefore relatively modern and we are very thankful to have good facilities
| The coastline is a particular attraction to us and at least once a year we like to take the children to have a picnic at the beach.
Our congregation is quite sociable and we like to have the occasional get- together. Food always plays a big part in these events. To learn a little more about the area, or to get a flavour of the county, our local website: and local newspapers: the John o' Groat Journal, and the Caithness Courier are very helpful.
